The NZ story continues
Gareth and Heather Jones have done incredible work here in New Zealand! As they make plans to head back to the UK, we celebrate that we now have seven staff working here at the Head Office in Otahuhu, Auckland to continue the work of CAP NZ. It's only 18 months since they travelled over from the UK to pioneer the charity and during that time we have we helped over 530 New Zealanders out of poverty, opened five CAP Centres and managed more than $1,000,000 of personal debt. By the end of 2009 there will be ten CAP Centres in New Zealand, which we plan to double by 2010. In 10 years' time we aim to have 150 centres throughout New Zealand offering our free high quality debt solution to anyone who needs our help.
The CAP Money course arrives in New Zealand
In March we launched the CAP Money course in New Zealand. This easy to run, three session course provides churches with a professional way to help their congregation and community manage their finances well. We have already trained 35 money coaches from 14 different churches in New Zealand, who are now ready to help their communities with financial education. The tried and tested money management system taught on the course is already being used by hundreds of people in the UK as the course is taught by over 300 churches. The cost for churches to run the course in New Zealand is just $250 per year and covers training for three money coaches, ongoing support, and a starter pack to run your first course. Our next training day is Saturday 18 July 2009 so book now as places are limited. To book your place contact the Partnership Team on 09 2700334 or email capmoney@capnz.org .
Thank you supporters!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our 300 supporters who regularly give towards our work. You are making a huge difference in people’s lives like Cushla, one of our clients in Whangarei...
'I was a physical and mental wreck when I called CAP, I had got into debt paying funeral expenses for my son in 2000 and once I got into debt, I couldn’t get out. I saw an article about CAP in the Whangarei Leader in March last year, and decided to try it. When CAP came to my house, I could have cried with relief because there was no judging; I felt I could be open with them and share what was happening, and they made me feel really good. I gave all my bills to CAP, and they took care of them. It was such a relief to have money to put food in the cupboard!' |
Cushla, like all of our clients, now lives within a budget and has affordable repayments for the rest of her debt; it simply has changed her life. This would not be possible without the continued support from our regular givers (Life Changers); Thank You Life Changers!
