'Reach will build your faith, reveal your gifts, develop your strengths and extend your horizons! Dive in and enjoy the adventure!'
During your year with CAP, you will spend four days a week working within a particular stream of Christians Against Poverty. Below is more detailed information on each of the different streams.
Centre Development
The Centre Development team are responsible for managing and supporting our UK centre network based in local churches.
As an intern in this department, you will be involved in a wide range of projects. These will include researching new ideas for effective working across our UK centre network, planning training events, overseeing centre statistics and coordinating resources.
For this role we are looking for someone highly organised, able to take initiative, adaptable and passionate about supporting our partner churches
Client Services
The heart of Client Services is to take the burden of debt from our clients, who are often the most vulnerable and needy, and provide them with the very best opportunity to get out of debt. As a Client Services Reach Intern you will join a fast-paced, dynamic team and become part of providing the first rate debt counselling service, for which CAP is renowned.
There are different areas within Client Services, which vary from directly dealing with clients, to providing insolvency advice to them. You will be trained to use our excellent systems and begin to work with clients and their financial situations over the phone. As the year progresses, you will be given more in-depth responsibilities to become an advanced and invaluable member of your team.
If you want an opportunity to practically express your compassion, desire for justice and heart for the poor, then Client Services is for you!
Communications
The Communications Team are looking for a number of people with various skills and strengths. These include creative writing, research, multimedia design, photography, website development, film production and administration.
CAP's Communications Team works in three sections: PR, Creative Media and Supporter Relations. Each section plays a crucial role in increasing the level of awareness of CAP in the UK. Through this we create financial support from individuals, churches and trust funds as well as raising our professional profile corporately and publically. Our team's main aims include: communicating the message of Christians Against Poverty and the difference our work makes; inspiring people to commit to giving financially and building credibility with the finance industry and those in a position to refer clients to our services.
If you get excited about creatively expressing God's heart for the poor; believe it is important that those who give money should be properly thanked and valued; or enjoy building good relationships with people and organisations, then the communications stream could be your place to shine!
Creditor Liaison Unit
The main role of the Creditor Liasion Unit is to deal with thousands of threatening letters from creditors that would otherwise come through our clients' doors, causing them stress and worry. You will be trained to deal with these letters effectively, literally 'speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves' (Proverbs 31:8-9). CLU is a fast paced, enthusiastic team that works together in order to deliver a high standard of work to both our clients and their creditors.
If you are driven, analytical and passionate about seeing justice for the poor, then this will be the ideal stream for you!
Evangelism & Discipleship
Are you excited that one person becomes a Christian everyday through the work of CAP? Would you like to be a part of this? We are looking for someone who is passionate about sharing God's love with our clients in practical and life-transforming ways.
The main focus of your work will be planning, organising and running a brand new project which sends evangelistic CAP speakers to client events. You will also have opportunities to get involved with our action-packed Discovery Breaks. These offer our clients the chance to have time away from their difficult situations, have fun, relax and learn more about our loving God, who longs to have a personal relationship with them. This is an extremely rewarding and faith-enriching role.
Applicants should be organised, creative, great communicators, client-focussed and committed team players. The role will include weekend work and travelling away on breaks. You will love it!
IT
If you are interested in developing and gaining experience in IT for a future career, then this stream is relevant to you. No specific qualifications are needed, as training will be given.
The IT Department supports all aspects of the charity's infrastructure, by resolving any IT problems, maintaining its servers, websites, networks and phone systems and managing the IT and PA for our conferences. There will be opportunities to work in, and learn about, all of these areas.
New Client Enquiries
The New Client Enquiries team are the first port of call for anyone who contacts CAP for help. The team deals with phone calls from people who are in desperate need and helps them take the first steps towards getting help with their debt.
As an intern in this team you will be fully trained to take these phone calls and help people begin their journey with CAP. For this role we will be looking for a confident communicator who is decisive and proactive. You will be someone who can handle potentially challenging phone calls and think on your feet.
If you are passionate about helping and supporting people in need, then this stream could be for you!
Partnership
Do you have a heart for the poor? Do you hate injustice? We are looking for passionate, lively communicators to join the Partnership Team as we inspire churches and individuals to join CAP's vision!

These include recruiting churches for CAP Money, organising national supporter and sponsored events, persuading people to join our Life Changer programme, representing CAP at Christian events and exhibitions and looking after CAP's vast array of volunteers, including CAP Ambassadors and our National Speaker Team.
