Together we can 'Remember The Poor'

We believe that the church is the hope of the world. It holds in its hands the only message that can change lives and communities both now and for eternity. That’s why our services are always run in partnership with a local church.

We would like to give you the opportunity to create awareness of CAP in your local community and raise funds to help us impact more lives across the UK.

Bag Packing

‘Organising a supermarket bag pack takes very little time and effort to organise. In just a few hours, we raised £1,300 for CAP as well as raising the charity’s profile amongst our community!’ – Gwyn

Are you able to give up a few hours of your time to help people at your local checkout pack their grocery bags? This year you have the opportunity to join other churches across the UK to pack bags in your local supermarket for Christians Against Poverty.

How to organise your own bag packing event:

  1. Order your free resource pack
  2. Send out the template letter we provide
  3. Get your team together and get packing!
Coffee Mornings

Large or small, Coffee Mornings are a fantastic opportunity to get together with friends to chat, mingle, have fun and share the exciting and life changing work of CAP.

Here's how one of our supporters organised and ran an event in their church in 2011:

‘I organised a Saturday afternoon tea party and invited members of my church fellowship group. Just over 20 people came! I set up a table to display the work of CAP, showed a short DVD and asked for donations. I raised over £500 and two friends even decided to make a monthly gift to CAP.’ – Natalie'

Why not celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2 - 5 June with a Tea Party for CAP?

Church Lunches

Whether it’s a selection of sandwiches, a bring-and-share lunch or a three course sit down dinner, sharing food always creates a great occasion and the perfect excuse for a church get together.

Here's how one of our supporters organised and ran an event in their church in 2011:

'We called our event “Soup Sunday”. We gave people the opportunity to make a donation for their soup and roll, as well as selling homemade cakes for dessert. We raised over £400 from the 80 people who attended.'

Other Ideas

If our suggestions don’t appeal, why not put on your own event to raise awareness of CAP and help us to remember the poor this year? Don’t forget to let us know what it is you have decided to organise.
